InkSpot customers frequently ask "How many times can my ink cartridge be refilled?". If the cartridge is taken care of properly, many cartridges can be refilled 4-5 times, others over 10 times. Imagine saving up to 60% off buying a brand new ink cartridge ... 10 times.
To maximize your cartridge life, InkSpot recommends the following care for print-head cartridges (HP, DELL, Lexmark):<
- Do not run the cartridge bone dry, it will damage the print-head.
- Once the print out starts to streak or fade, bring cartridge in for a refill. It takes InkSpot about 10 minutes to refill your cartridge. When a cartridge sits empty, air gets in and drys out the print-head.
- For cartridges being brought in immediately, place cartridge in an envelope. Do not place tape over the print-head. When the color cartridge print-head touches plastic or tape, they enable one color to run into the other, contaminating the color cartridge.
- For cartridges not being brought in immediately, place a damp paper towel on side of cartridge, wrap cartridge in paper, place cartridge in a zip lock bag.
InkSpot recommends the following care for non print-head cartridges (Epson, Canon, Brother):
- Always keep a cartridge in each slot of printer (per owner's manual).
- If back up set of cartridges not available, take out cartridge for refill and place back into printer in same day.
- If printer does not have cartridges for more than 12 hours, air will enter print head causing damage to printer.
- Place empty cartridge in plastic bag to transport to InkSpot.
- Because the cartridge does not have a print-head, both full and empty cartridges can be left out of printer for weeks.
